Our Youth ARTS Internship Program is designed to build the wellness and leadership of youth artists within the movement to build "Better Alternatives for Youth" and transform systemic violence. Interns work side by side with our staff and lead organizers to deploy Community Based Art and Youth Participatory Action Research methods in order to address systems of violence through healing and community organizing centered solutions. Leading Collective
Jada Imani is an MC and teaching artist from the East Bay by way of East St. Louis. Jada is passionate about creating safer space where arts and culture can be activated as a vehicle for deep healing, self-empowerment and revolutionary change. She hosted hundreds of artists at her First Friday showcases and Sunday open mics. Now she is dropping a three-track EP every First Friday for 6 months starting November 2020.

Desire Johnson-Forte is a 2013 graduate of Mills College in Oakland, CA, earning her BA in English (CW) and minor in Ethnic Studies. She is passionate about equitable youth access to resources, decision making, and social entrepreneurship. What she envisions for her community is stabilization of Black owned businesses; safe spaces for “survivors of many things,” and the freedom of self determination.

Bria Woodland is a Sophomore at Envision Academy of arts and technology. "I am passionate about art and using it to make change and learn more about people. I envision my community to be more accepting,loving, and safe when it come to protecting our youth. I want it to be a safe people for every person no matter their shape, color, or size."

Keturah Browne is a Sophomore at Oakland high school. "I am passionate about art and history. I envision myself being successful with my art and painting murals and producing posters for my community and businesses. I envision the future of my community to be filled with inspiration and hopeful people and enough resources for everyone to achieve their dreams."
