Community Building Artsenal (2023)

This Community Building Artsenal is a compilation of ice breakers, energizers and community building activities that educators, community leaders, organizers, activists, facilitators, artists and allies and more, can use to build community with the people we serve. Born out of our Youth ARTS initiative, we believe these activities can aid the process’s of heal from collective trauma, preventing violence and building community. through support our liberation arts-based frameworks to combat violence, oppression and division in our communities, hence the term “ARTSenal.” It is also a play on the word arsenal: a collection of weapons and military equipment stored by a country, person, or group.

reimagining safety Zine (2024)

In 2024, BAY-Peace and the Black Organizing Project came together to host the GFR Youth Task Force. That year, our staff facilitated a series of community listening sessions with students across OUSD to gather their input on what they believe is needed to truly feel safe at school. This Zine was created by our YTF using Poems that they collectively wrote, and a poster created by the YTF and other adult allies during a community circulo on school safety.
